Connecting and Mentoring Women Leading Climate Action
The Women4Climate Program supports women climate leaders working to create a healthier, greener, more resilient, and economically prosperous urban future.
W4C Vancouver Need-To-Know
Why Women?
It takes 100% of the population to make a difference in climate action and we know that women bring important attributes and lived experiences to the table as we strive for solutions for a prosperous and clean future. Even though there has been significant progress on gender equity in B.C., there are still inequities in the workplace:
- 57% of women in B.C. are given access to leadership training versus 68% of men.
- While only 35% of women report having a workplace sponsor or mentor, 91% of those who do say it has been instrumental in advancing their careers.
The term “women” is used to describe people who identify as such. We recognize and value people with gender identities, attributes, and expressions that exist between and outside of this binary.
The Women4Climate program is a legacy program of C40. In 2019, the City of Vancouver became the eighth city to launch a Women4Climate Mentorship Program—in partnership with the ZEIC. Click here to learn more about the history of this initiative and its international impact.
